We are on our own
As mentioned in the homepage, Professor Carla Frova declined Professor Gatto's invitation to involve the University
of Roma La Sapienza in our initiative on grounds that the idea did not come from the rank and file at the said university.
The fact that Professor Gatto had been part of that university until last year did not count.
So each man on his
own! Perhaps it is better this way. I certainly feel some relief at the fact that I am not going to spend hundreds of hours
doing the thankless job of organizing such an event. But I will be in Rome in late August 2010 with many of my friends
and other enthusiasts. I will make sure to play The Pines of Via Appia, part of the tone poem The Pines of Rome by Respighi,
while actually marching on the Via Appia, wearing a Roman legionnaire's equipment. My military background gives me the
right to do that. Until 1984 I was a major of the Medical Department of the Romanian Army. And I will do many other insane
things! Of course, with the permission of Rome's City Hall. See you there if you dare!
Best,

Professor Gatto from the University La Sapienza, Rome, Italy, supports our initiative and will participate in the commemoration!
We rejoice at the news that Professor Ludovico Gatto will take active part in the preparation of the commemoration, as
well as in the commemoration itself. Please visit the home page. Send us your reaction to this wonderful development. Now
you have the opportunity to participate in a unique, quality event together with like-minded history
and archaeology enthusiasts. We now have the academic might of Professor Gatto backing our grass roots initiative. Do
not miss this once in a lifetime opportunity to unravel the mysteries of late ancient and early medieval Rome and to understand
better your background. Join us!
Best wishes to all, Daniel Costa

We have now Danish participants
Today the first two Danes have joined our group. In the mean time, Belisarius is
trying to contact Professor Ludovico Gatto's office at the University of Rome La Sapienza. We wish to ask him to guide
us in our efforts to complete this ambitious project.
Valete et habete fortunam bonam!

Wonderful news from Rome!
I am delighted to make it known that Luigi Di Girolamo-Belisarius from Rome has
mobilized a group of history enthusiasts from the eternal city. As I write this happy post, they are already working
towards our objective: the commemoration of the fall of Rome in 2010. Valete et habete fortunam bonam!
